What is Flip?
In 2021, Tessa, CoOwner of New Duds, was deeply missing her hands on fabric based business. A few years prior she stopped making a line of handbags and other sewn goods (Foliage Handbags). One part of her knew taking that step back was necessary that project seemed like it had run its course. Still there was an urge to find a new way to explore her creative nature through color and textile.
After mulling it over and feeling through bins of fabric remnants, ideas started to come back. Maybe, maybe, a new venture could continue. Something that scratched that itch, to source recycled and sustainably made textiles, to add unique phrases, designs and styles. To be a bit brighter and bolder and more one of a kind (OOAK LIFE!) than before.
This was the part that truly spoke to her, the part that drove new ideas. Flipping through racks of wool skirts in a thrift store, flipping through t-shirt scraps at work, flipping through bins of buttons or thread. FLIP; a little bit of old, with a little bit of new energy. Mostly one of a kind and lots of freedom for change!
