Custom EMBROIDERY
Looking for custom merch, branded items, or apparel for an event?
We are here to help! New Duds offers custom embroidery on a wide variety of apparel items. Curious about what we have to offer? Take a look at our Garments Catalogue to start, or reach out if you’re looking for a specific style you don’t see listed. For more examples of our work check out our Portfolio page.
Our minimum order for embroidered garments starts at 12 units per design.
We can combine multiple garment styles to reach the minimum as long as your design is the same on all items. While we do offer low order minimums, we unfortunately cannot provide “one off” or single item jobs.
We prefer to work with vector files saved in .ai, .eps, or .pdf format.
Please outline all your fonts, strokes, and paths before submitting so that your file can be as accurate as possible. Not sure if you have a vector file to work with? Send us your highest resolution file and we’ll see if it can be reformatted. We will always make you a production mockup before you approve your invoice to make sure the embroidery will meet your expectations.
Lead times change depending on the time of year and our production schedule.
When you reach out about your project we can let you know how far out we are currently booking orders. Your turnaround time begins at the date your invoice is finalized and approved.
How do I get a quote?
Filling out our contact form is the best way to get us all the information we need to help you with your new project. Pricing varies depending on the blank cost of the garments you choose, number of embroidery locations, number of stitches per design, and the quantity you order.
Hoping for a custom design?
We don’t build custom illustrations from scratch but we can add text and make simple edits to your design. We work with a variety of talented, local designers and can recommend them to you if your project should need it.
One of our most frequently asked questions is about the difference between direct to garment embroidery and patches.
We've outlined the basics here to help you make the right decision for your project.
Direct Embroidery
This is typically our most popular and cost effective option. With direct embroidery our machines are able to stitch your design directly onto the garments. There can be some differences with how the design translates from digital to embroidery, but we will go over your design together and make recommendations as needed. Note that small text and tiny details can be difficult to translate.
Embroidered Patches
Creating an embroidered patch will give your design a similar look to direct embroidery. The difference is that it will be a physical piece of fabric that we sew onto your garments. Embroidered patches typically have a 1/8” merrow edge, which is a contrasting sewn thread that runs around the perimeter of the patch. All patch orders require a minimum patch order of 100 units.
Woven Patches
Similarly to an embroidered patch, this is a physical piece of fabric that is sewn onto your garment. The primary difference between embroidered and woven patches is the style of the design. Woven patches are created with a much thinner thread and tighter weave which gives more of a flat, printed appearance. For this reason they can retain a much higher amount of detail and are ideal for designs that include small text or have a lot of thin line work.
Woven Labels
Woven labels are created in the same style as woven patches, but they do not have a thick backing or a merrow edge. They can be sewn onto garments as a patch, or can be sewn along the edge of a garment as a hem tag.
Leather Patches
We can source leather patches that are debossed (pressed) or embossed (raised) with your design, and then our machines can stitch around the perimeter to attach them to your garments. Pricing on leather patches does tend to run higher than embroidered or woven patches, and lead times are longer for patch production.
